Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.), leaves are used as raw material for smoking, it is of tubuliflorous order, nightshade family (Solanaceae), genus Nicotiana.
From numerous genus species in industrial crops, besides tobacco, they also used poor tobacco (or rustic tobacco N.Rustica).
Other species of industrial value are not used for other purposes, for example, as decorative architectural planting or in selection to give tobacco some economically useful features.
Tobacco is a consumption product, but according to effect on the human organism and form of consumption (they consume mainly tobacco smoke and not tobacco). It is significantly different from other products of vegetable origin.
All Nicotiana genus species are alkaloid plants. Some species, like tobacco, contain nicotine, others contain nornicotine, anabasine and others.
